An intensely-textured top with four quadrants provides better feedback as users can feel where they are and instructors can call out cues during training sessions. It also provides a better grip during push-ups, planks, and more. Vary the instability by varying the pressure in the inflatable dome to accommodate a variety of users and movements. An inflation pump is included.
Durable 6.5 lb bladder is ideal for moderate use. A solid single-overmolded polypropylene platform features nonskid feet to enhance the trainer's stability during use. Trainer supports up to 300 lb.
BOSU NexGen is available individually or in sets of 10 for group settings. Trainer is 26" dia x 9"H; 17 lb.
The ability to balance, or maintain a state of equilibrium while stationary or moving, is required in almost all physical activity. Good balance & stability not only leads to better physical performance, it also helps prevent injury. Research suggests our ability to balance peaks around puberty; however, the natural deterioration can be curbed or even reversed with training.
How can you teach better balance & stability?
The most common approach is to introduce varying degrees of instability to different activities, which trains the muscles and the brain to compensate and react. The more unstable, and the more directions of instability, the greater and more frequent the required response in order to maintain balance. For more information on balance training, consult the training materials available through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (www.nsca-lift.org).
